According to Statistics Canada, about one million LGBTQ2+ people in Canada, accounting for 4% of the total population aged 15 and older in 2018. Although much has been accomplished since the turn of the millennium, such as the legalization of same-sex marriage in 2005 and the inclusion of gender expression and identity protection in the Canadian Human Rights Act, there is still much more to be done.
